Toronto Film Festival completes 2012 lineup

The Toronto International Film Festival has competed its 2012 roster by adding 40-plus titles, including Master program entries from Michael Haneke’s “Amour,” Abbas Kiarostami’s “Like Someone in Love” and Michael Winterbottom’s “Everyday.”

 

There are twenty-seven new titles in the Discovery program of upcoming filmmaker talent, including Pablo Berger’s “Blancanieves” and Rolar Nashaf’s “Detroir Unleaded.”

 

There’s also big name talent fill the Maverick program with the likes of Johnny Depp, Javier Bardem and Jackie Chan in conversation.

The 50th New York Film Festival has announced its main slate of 32 films which include features from Brian De Palma, Alain Resnais and Michael Haneke.

Ang Lee’s anticipated “Life of Pi” will open the festival while Robert Zemeckis’ “Flight” will close the event in September.

Canadian titles announced at Toronto Film Festival

The Canadian portion of the Toronto International Film Festival have been announced and include features, “Short Cuts Canada” and films funded by the National Film Board of Canada.

 

First time feature filmmakers include Jason Buxton (“Blackbird”), Brandon Cronenberg (“Antiviral”) and Kate Melville (“Picture Day”).

 

Sarah Polley returns with (“The Stories We Tell”), as well as Xavier Dolan (“Laurence Anyways”) and Michael McGowan (“Still”).

The Toronto International Film Festival has announced its first titles for the 2012 festival in September.

Russell “(Silver Linings Playbook”), Joe Wright (“Anna Karenina”), Ramin Bahrani (“At Any Price”), Neil Jordan (“Byzantium”), Mira Nair (“The Reluctant Fundamentalist”), Robert Redford (“The Company You Keep”), Cate Shortland (“Lore”), Francois Ozon (“In The House”), Roger Michell (“Hyde Park on Hudson”), Joss Whedon (“Much Ado About Nothing”), Robert Pilcini and Shari Springer Berman (“Imogene”), Derek Cianfrance (“The Place Behind The Pines”), Laurent Cantet (“Foxfire”), Noah Baumbach (“Frances Ha”), Sally Potter (“Ginger and Rosa”) and, Terrence Malick (“To The Wonder”).
