Mother of octuplets has six other children at home.

Actually, there was a couple in England in the 90’s who had 8 babies. It wasn’t called Reality TV then -the BBC made a Documentary. The family was sponsored by various baby products, but because it’s the BBC and not a rich American broadcast network, the couple didn’t receive money for the doc. They did receive free health care -which they were entitled to -in the form of home help and baby food, etc. The husband had to give up his job to help look after the kids -they lived off donations from the caring public. It was tough though. No millions of dollars from a network deal. No changing the “reality” for the sake of ratings so that there’s always a happy ending, and so really not “reality” at all. No throwing money at them so that “real” monetary struggles don’t exist. “Reality” TV -what a joke.

National Shoe Throwing Day

January 30, 2009

I declare a National Throw a Shoe Day. On this day, take off your shoe and throw it at the boss or colleague you hate, the girl or boy who cheated on you, the neighbor who plays guitar until 3am every morning, the producer who laughed at your script, the dog who stole your gig, and all those Bush loving and Palin worshipping types all over the country. One nation, one groove -take off your shoe and throw.

French Strike Chaos

January 29, 2009

gl/2009/1/28

The French are on strike again. I have to hand it them. They do get things done. Over there, the government serves the people, not the other way round. The government is afraid of the French public and bows down to threats of strike. When the government messes up, the French people are out on the streets and fighting for their lives. The American’s don’t understand strikes, they prefer to sit on their collective asses and hope and prey that Obama will save the day. There is no punishment for the people and corporations who put the world in to this financial mess. The French keep the revolution alive. Power-to-the-people. A collective voice with power to turn governments. The Americans haven’t had an uprising since the 60’s. Why aren’t the American people marching on Washington and demanding that Washington fat cats and corporate greed is put on trial? Why aren’t Americans taking to the streets and fighting for their homes, jobs, and livelihoods? Why such blind faith in government?

Obama: Yes We Can

January 21, 2009

gl/2009/1/18

President Barack Obama’s inauguration on Tuesday will be the most expensive in American history. The $150 million price tag dwarfs those of President’s Bush and President Clinton inauguration’s combined budgets. I know what you are thinking. How can such a phenomenal price tag be justified during a depression? Well it is precisely because of Obama’s star phenomena that an estimated two million people or more are descending on Washington DC, thus hiking up the cost for adequate security, transport, and Portacabins. The federal government budgeted $49 million for the inauguration, this is in line with previous inaugurations. But Virginia and Maryland have asked for more emergency funding, as has Washington DC’s transport authority. And just before President Bush left office, he declared that an “emergency exists in the District of Columbia. Well, hell yeh! Two million freezing cold men and women lining up to use the facilities is my kind of state of
emergency
.

I would suggest celebrating at home.
